How it works
Three questions. That's the whole form.
What are you scheduling?
A defense, a talk, a lab meeting. Tap one and we set sensible defaults for the rest, including who can see it.
When and where?
Pick a date, or propose a few times and let everyone mark what works. The winning slot becomes the event.
Who's coming?
Paste in email addresses: your committee, an external examiner, a whole cohort. They get an invite whether or not they've heard of us.
Why this exists
The hardest part of a defense is finding the hour.
Five academics, four calendars nobody else can see, one external examiner in another timezone, and a room that has to be booked before any of it is settled. It gets solved with a twenty-message email thread, and then it gets solved again when someone moves.
General-purpose event tools assume a public listing and a ticket. Academic scheduling is the opposite: a named handful of people, half of whom will never make an account for your software, and a date that has to survive being changed twice. So invitations here go to an email address, replies come back to one place, and when the time moves, everyone is told without you writing the email.

Questions
The ones we actually get asked.
Do the people I invite need an account?
No. Invitations go to an email address. Your external examiner can RSVP, see the details, and get told when the time changes without ever creating a login. Accounts are for people who want a profile and a calendar of their own.
What does verification actually unlock?
Anyone can browse and create an event. ORCID verification gives you full access to the network side: posting any kind of ask, sending intros in any category, and a verified badge. An institutional email sits in between and unlocks the student flows.
What happens when the time moves?
You change it once. Everyone who was invited is emailed the new time, and the calendar entry they already added updates with it. The whole point is that you don't write that email.
Is it free?
Yes, throughout the beta. Scheduling is the part we intend to keep free, because it only works if the external examiner who'll never sign up can still be invited.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It's built mobile-first and there are native iOS and Android apps wrapping the same experience. Most people create an event on a laptop and check who's coming on a phone.
